How many World War II veterans are alive today?
According to statistics released by the Veteran’s Administration, our World War II vets are dying at a rate of 900 a day (previous studies listed 1,200 but the number has declined due to a decrease in the total number of World War veterans). This means that there were approximately 16,000,000 veterans at the end of the war and today there are just over 2,000,000 still with us today. This urgency guides the Museum in everything we do. Collecting the oral history of a veteran, donating an artifact, creating a Personal Page or contributing to the Museum or only a few of the ways you can help us to preserve the legacy of the Greatest Generation.
