How many workers actually make the lowest wage?
By our educated estimates, more than 300 Vanderbilt employees are paid below the living wage standard. We think this because last year’s negotiations affected around 600 workers, and about half of them made below a living wage. But the real answer is, we don’t know. Unfortunately, many important facts about Vanderbilt’s wage policies are withheld from the University community — information that would contribute enormously to an informed dialogue on our campus. Demanding honesty and transparency from Vanderbilt administrators is a key part of the LIVE platform.
