How many words / commands can a cat understand?

After a life time with cats I’m still trying to find out but I know they understand a lot of words. They also talk a lot. I’m sure my tom is swearing at me at times. I defenitely get a mouthful if no being quick enough to let him in when the weather is bad.The queen is more dignified. BUT! Remember, cats are the masters and we, the humans, are their slaves. Factum.
