How many watts does it take to drive the AxeTrak?

The AxeTrak only needs 5 watts to do its thing. We have many customers that use low power class A tube amps in the 1 watt range that also work quite well. Any amp rated with between 5 watts and say 150 watts rms if it has a master volume will work fine with this device. Many guitarists with smaller amps use microphone preamps, mixers or compressors to boost the signal coming out of the AxeTrak. Others simply choose to run their AxeTraks into microphone preamps, mixers or compressors as part of their unique sound and recording setup to have more control over the recorded sound. Everyone is different and we encourage you to experiment.
