According to Google Analytics documentation,

You can include up to 10 variations of a page.

However, that Analytics Help page is not dated so it’s not possible to know how up-to-date that info is.

Another website posted the following info sometime after Google Analytics Content Experiments was first launched (June 2012):

There are a maximum of 5 variations per experiment.

And still another website posted more recently (May 2013) with a third number for maximum variations:

and on up to variation 9 (the maximum number of variations).

So, what’s the actual answer to maximum number of variations in a Google Analytics Content Experiment??!

I created a test Content Experiment in my own Google Analytics account to find out. Here’s what happened…

I got to 31 variations before I gave up!

So it seems to me that you might have unlimited variations, or if not at least 100 variations.

P.S.
I have no affiliation to the sites linked to in my answer. I’ve provided them just in case you want to reference them for additional detail.

What is your question?
