Many of them are. Many are lawyers, which is how they made money before becoming Senators. Some have made money from books, or real estate or other investments. Some inherited their money, some of them MARRIED their money (McCain). Yes, I’m sure that it has some effect on their votes. Congress (Sens and Reps) have the best health care in the world and nice retirement benefits after a certain amount of time-in-office. Their retirement “bennies” pale in comparison to what those thieves on Wall Street are getting, though. It would take some independent investigation to determine, vote-by-vote, whether an individual’s votes were influenced by their wealth; I’m sure that there’s at least one group that may have done that, but I’m not curious enough about it to find out who (if anyone) has actually done it. But if they have, I’m sure that it’s on-line and could be Googled. What usually seems to affect their votes are: pressure from their constituents, but especially from their Big Contributo
