How many types of termites are there? Which type of termite is most active in Malaysia?
There are three main types of termites. They are the dry wood termites, mount building termites and the subterranean termites (white ants). The Dry Wood termites are not very common in Malaysia. They are normally found in dry wood and therefore may live above the ground level. The mount making termites are mainly found in the forest. They live in mounts and are quite easy to detect. The most commonly found and feared specie is the subterranean termite. They live in nest below the ground. Therefore, it is not easy to detect their nest.
