How many types of sounding rockets are there?
-D.S. & B.C. ANSWER: NASA’s sounding rocket program handbook lists 14 rocket types that are currently available for supporting scientific research. Over the years, many other rocket types have been used, both in the US and overseas. Different rocket types can be made by attaching the different booster types in different combinations. So there are probably hundreds of possibilities but, as I said, NASA has focused on just 14 for its current program.
