How many types of psoriasis are there?
The main forms of psoriasis are vulgaris, pustular, plaque, and inverse. The most common form is vulgaris, which appears as reddened patches a few cm across in size. Pustular, appears as blisters of noninfectious pus on a base of reddened skin. Plaque, will display areas of reddened skin covered with silvery scales. Inverse, appears as smooth, shinny red patches in areas of friction such as in folds of skin in the groin, armpits or under the breasts. Psoriasis may also affect some of the joints causing discomfort and restricted motion called psoriatic arthritis. It may also affect the fingernails and toenails.
