How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments will vary with regard to the individual presenting problem. Just as every medical condition varies, so will the individual response to therapy. In a recent clinical report summarizing over 1000 patients treated with the BioFlex Professional LILT system at time of discharge, patients had averaged slightly less than ten treatments to resolve their condition completely.
A. Laser treatments impair the growth capacity of the hair follicles when they are in the active growth stage. Not all follicles are active at the same time and several treatments, every few weeks, may be necessary to obtain the desired result. The number of treatments needed to achieve hair reduction varies. Most patients experience a marked reduction in hair growth in 5 to 8 treatments. Additionally, other factors such as hair density, age and hormones can affect the results of your treatments.
The number of treatments necessary varies with each person. Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of the hair, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, normal physiologic changes, certain medications, and stress influence the treatment program for each individual. It is very important to adhere to the recommended treatment schedule to achieve optimum results in the shortest time frame. Some improvement should be observed within several months after initiating treatment, provided the patient adheres to the recommended treatment schedule.
The number of treatments will depend on: • the desired degree of blood vessel reduction • hormonal status • area being treated • medication (for example medicines like prednisone can increase superficial blood vessel growth) Typically, one or two treatments are needed for facial vessels; and three or four treatments may be needed on the legs. Treatment can be done every 6 weeks on the face, and every 3 months on the legs. Cherry hemangiomas (red dots on the body) usually only require one or two treatments. Some people start with the area which troubles them the most, then when they can see the results they often return to have other areas treated. Additional “touchup” treatments on small troublesome areas can be arranged at relatively low cost.
