How many Title I schools failed to make adequate yearly progress?

During the 2008-09 school year, 1,116 schools, or 80% of the Title I schools evaluated, failed to make adequate yearly progress. This percentage is unchanged from the previous year. Both the states A+ Plan and NCLB measure student progress based on FCAT results. However, the two programs use different methods and criteria for evaluating student performance and, therefore, obtain different results. For example, 675 Title I schools that failed to make adequate yearly progress received Florida school grades of A or B in Fiscal Year 2008-09. Other performance measures and standards for the department may be found in its Long Range Program Plan.
