How many times will the artificial turf need to be replaced before the bond is paid off?
The district is currently spending approximately $55,000 a year in maintenance of the grass field at the stadium. The artificial turf being proposed at a total cost of $727,958 has a life expectancy of 10-15 years. For planning purposes, we are estimating that the artificial turf will need to be replaced in 12 years, and the current replacement cost for the artificial turf is approximately $250,000. Although the cost of the artificial field and current maintenance of a natural grass field is relatively the same over the first 12 years, the district would save money after the first 12 years due to the relatively low cost of replacing the turf.
