How many times was the Balkans Support Contract extended?
Three times. The first extension, May 28, 2004, through November 23, 2004, occurred under a standard Federal Acquisition Regulation clause included in the Balkans Support Contract, Option to Extend Services. This clause allowed for the period of performance to be extended for no more than six months. This extension is not considered a sole source extension since the clause was included in the original competitively-awarded contract. The second extension was for the period November 24, 2004, through April 30, 2005. The third extension was for the period May 1, 2005, through April 30, 2006, with two option periods (May 1, 2006, through October 31, 2006; and November 1, 2006, through January 31, 2007).
