How many times have WTS leaders changed their prophecies or predictions of Armageddon?
At least 5-6 times. From the founder to each head of the WTS organization, their predictions would not come true, so they either changed them or tailored them to some spiritual meaning, so as to save face. You can Google several historical documents which list specifically the predictions, ranging from Armageddon having to happen in 1914, 1916, on upward.
Yes they have 3 times to be exact 1914 then 1925 then 1975. I was raised a witness but have never been baptized as a witness. I lived throught the 1975 and well im still here, and im getting old to. They would do well to read Deuteronomy 18: 20-22. Im not afraid of them anymore. I beleve that orginized religon is a way to control people it always has. This is why Jesus rebuked the sagasees and pharisies that they were putting undew pressures and hardships on the people. Like wise the witnesses with there dates. Alot of people sold there homes and went full time in the ministry cause they really beleved that 75 was going to be it. The WTBTS left no room for doubt stay alive till 75 was the slogan at that time. Well when these poeple who sold there homes, they cominded them for doing so what fine examples these people are. They when it all fell through they put the blame on there followers for reading into it to much as many of there watchtowers had said with as a kid i personaly read. N
One verifiable account of a failed prophecy can be found in the 1920 book published by the watchtower society named ‘millions now living will never die’, this was also the title of convention talks of the same name given by Judge Rutherford, the society president at the time. The statement was meant quite literally, that millions of people alive at that time in 1920 would never die, as they would be saved at armageddon, and therefore live forever on the earth. The basis for this belief was on Jesus words, ‘this generation will by no means pass away…’ in Matthew 24:34 which they applied to any who had ‘seen’ Jesus invisible presence (or parousia in greek) in 1914 when they believed he established his kingdom in the heavens. Of course time has run out for this prediction, as millions who were alive at that time and who qualify for everlasting life no longer remain. This prediction can also be found in the watctower publication ‘You can live forever in paradise on Earth’ on page 154 you
At what point can the Organisation actually claim to have THE TRUTH? It means that every time the teaching has changed about Armageddon – or the significance of dates – prior to that time, witnesses were not taught THE TRUTH. Therefore, they were taught UNTRUTH, but were claiming it to be truth. It is no excuse to say that it was NEW LIGHT. You cant claim to be at the end of the tunnel if you can just see more light… I hasten to add that in no way am i accusing anyone of intentionally doing this. The man who directed the research into the (large blue) AID book, left the organisation as a result of changing teachings. He wanted to correct teachings about dates, but was not allowed.
