How many times have the Chicago Cubs won the World Series?

0

The Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 1907 and 1908. They haven’t won one since. The 1906-10 dynasty which produced four National League pennants in five years was made up of great pitching and solid infield defense – Three Finger Brown, Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers, and Frank Chance are all in the Hall of Fame. They set win total records which have not even been approached since, not even by the great Yankee dynasties over the years. The Cubs’ decline was due to its superstars aging and no one left to take over. Frank Selee, the former manager of the team, was the man responsible for putting that great team together. When he died young, the Cubs didn’t have anyone else in charge who could find new talent. The team did remain competitive over the next few decades but could never beat the AL champions. And from the 1950s through the 1990s, they languished in mediocrity or the cellar.
