How many times does the health visitor come after birth UK?
My daughter is 8 months and the HV came 4 times, after that went started going to the baby clinic and the GP surgery. She always told me the date and time she would visit, if they can’t tell you don’t worry about it. Go about your nomal business, you can’t be expected to stay in. You could ask her to phone you before she comes to see if you’re going to be in or not.
They come several times over a period of months to check growth and weight to make sure the baby is developing at a good rate. They cant give exact times as they visit many mums on the same day and say one is really struggling, they wouldnt cut them short to hurry away, they would stay and try to help in whatever way possible. It also depends on the geography, They will start at a certain house and work their way through the closest houses and so on. It is frustrating for the other mums but you could ask if it’s possible for you to be visited first, or last? That way you have a rough time which is better than nothing. As for the 6pm sick call? That is really unprofessional and your within your rights to complain. If you are in a big area there could well be another health visitor you could be transfered to. If not you need to get ahold of this lady and explain that you need things to be a lot more proffesional in future.
