Spring tides are produced when the the gravitational influence of the moon and the Sun are combined producing a higher that normal high tide and a lower than normal low tide. This occurs when the Sun, Earth and moon are aligned. This alignment occurs during a new and a full moon. Therefore we would expect to observe a spring tide twice a month. 12.
