A. Thirty-six teams qualify for the National Championship, with 24 teams competing in 12 opening-round pairings. The top 11 seeds and final site host (or top 12 if no host) receive a bye in the national championship opening round. Opening round winners join top 11 seeds and host at the final site for a 24-team pool play tournament.
