How many teaching practicum hours will my CIE TESOL certificate count for?
The CIE TESOL certificate will count as 40 hours teaching practicum. Some institutions (particularly in South Korea) require that your TESOL certificate have 100 hours. If you would like to have your CIE TESOL certificate upgraded to 100 hours teaching practicum you will need to make up the extra 60 hours. This can be done by: 1. Acquiring 60 hours teaching experience. This can be done by working for a school, teaching privately, and/or for a voluntary organization. Teaching time acquired before taking the CIE course can also count. You will need to provide a letter from the organization you worked for (or from your students if you taught privately) confirming the nature of what you taught and also the amount of time you spent teaching.
