How many tanks in world war 2 in empire of japan?
Japan was a naval power during WW2, and placed it’s steel production priorities on warship construction. However, Japan did build about 2,000 Type 95 light tanks and approximately 2,000 Type 97 medium tanks for the Imperial Army; other types of armor were produced, such as tankettes and the earlier Type 89, plus some up-gunned 75mm Type 97’s; but the majority of Japanese tanks encountered by the Allies during WW2 were the Type 95’s & 97’s.
