How many TAFE employees will need to be re-deployed or will be lost through atural attrition (i.e. retirement) between now and 2012?
It is well documented that the South Australian workforce is ageing and the issue for TAFE SA is even more acute, as the teaching workforce is older than the public sector average. Only 15% of the current TAFE SA workforce is under 40 years of age and 70% of the TAFE SA leadership group is over 50. The biggest challenge facing the TAFE SA workforce is not one of redundancies or redeployment, but how to improve the effectiveness, flexibility and productivity of the organisation to attract and retain staff to meet the training needs of South Australia.
