In releases prior to 3.1, roughly 27K messages per second at 99% CPU. Release 3.1 can generate up to 34K messages per second. Note that timestamping syslogs in releases 2.2 and 2.3 is extremely CPU intensive and significantly reduces the total rate to about 10K messages per second. Release 3.1 performs better in that area (timestamp still cuts the rate of messages that can be sent though, but the effect on CPU utilization is much more reasonable because of re-assigned process priorities).
