Fourteen Jackson High School students were expelled today after a food fight broke out in the cafeteria of the Mill Creek school around 11 a.m. Everett School District spokeswoman Mary Waggoner said she didn’t know what prompted the fight that was caught on a cellphone video and sent to local TV stations. On the video, several dozen students appear to be ducking from hurled food while others quickly clear out of the cafeteria. “We don’t know what started it, but it’s not acceptable behavior,” Waggoner said. Jackson’s senior prom, scheduled for May 23, has been temporarily suspended, Waggoner said. The school administration will draw up a plan so that everyone attending the formal dance understands expectations for proper behavior, she said. The students expelled in the food fight will be allowed to return to school if they come in with a parent and discuss with administrators what happened, Waggoner said. Sources:
