HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN EACH CLASS?
Classes have an average of 30 students. Primary school and semester classes can have 50 students in attendance. Occasionally, some teachers have a chance to teach a 5 to 10-student class, After-school classes have from 6 to 20 students.15.What courses are required to a teacher? Depending on the particular school you are placed in, you may be asked to teach some of the following courses: English & American literature, linguistics, reading, composition, grammar, cultural survey of English-speaking countries, conversational English and English for Special Purposes (ESP) such as business English. There are universities that need teachers to teach more specialised subjects such as accounting, international marketing and law.16.What kind of positions can you recommend? We can recommend English teachers who are interested in year-long positions, semester-long positions and short-term summer teaching positions.
How many hours per week will I be in the classroom? You have a total of 25 hours of classes each week. You take five classes each day for a total of five hours each day. Each class is one hour in duration. In addition to the classes, you also have one or two hours of conversation practice each week with a native speaker. Will we have conversation practice with native speakers? Each week, you have one or two hours of scheduled conversation with a native English speaker who is an undergraduate student at the University of Guelph. You will also have the opportunity to engage in more conversation with a senior citizen who lives in senior citizen residence in Guelph. What level should I apply for? You do not need to apply for a specific level. You will be tested during the first week of the semester and placed in the most appropriate level of the English Language Certificate Program according to your performance on the testing.
