Since your question asks what states “share” a border with Maine and not what states “border” Maine, it could be said that Maine shares a border of some kind with 23 other states. Either by way of the Canadian border or the Atlantic Ocean. I only gave New York and New Hampshire one each even though both of them also share both borders. Oh, and I did not count Alaska because they do not share the same international border.
