Alaska, California, and Oregon have legalized medical marijuana use, but it is all but irrelevant. The US Supreme Court ruled that Federal law regarding marijuana supercedes state law legalizing medical marijuana use. Therefore, medical marijuana users can (and often will) be federally prosecuted for using it, even if their state has legalized it.
