How many Springfield Cardinals have gone on to become St. Louis Cardinals?
On July 2nd, 2006, reliever Josh Kinney, a member of the Inaugural 2005 Springfield Cardinals, was called up to St. Louis. With his appearance against the Atlanta Braves on July 3rd, Kinney officially became the first Springfield Cardinals’ player to ever make his Major League debut with the St. Louis Cardinals. Kinney also became the first Springfield Cardinals’ player to appear in a postseason game and the first to ever win a World Series Ring, when the Cardinals beat Detroit in the 2006 Fall Classic! Through the end of the 2009 season, a total of 24 former Springfield Cardinals have made their big league debut with the St. Louis Cardinals.
