How many species are in Dallas Zoo?
The Dallas Zoo has 1,800 animals representing 406 species. Given that the zoo manages the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park also, the total of animals including invertebrates is 6,800. This makes an additional 375 marine and freshwater species that are represented by the aquarium facility. The Dallas Zoo received approval for a 10 acre project in April 2009, called the Giants of the Savanna, to be completed by late 2010. Their numbers will be growing along with the size, they have already acquired a 27 year old African Elephant to be one of the new residents. For more details, please see sites listed below.
