How many songs did Dylan write for Jonny Cash?
Dylan didn’t write any of Johnny’s songs. John did cover some Dylan songs (and they recorded a few together, most notably an atrocious version of “Girl From The North Country”) Johnny had more hits Dylan sold more records Who was better? That’s subjective. In my opinion, Johnny’s not even in the same ballpark as Dylan. On an objective basis, Dylan’s influence is worldwide and they will still be discussing him several hundred years from now. Who was worth more? Dylan by a wide margin. The real money in music is writer’s royalties and Dylan has written many songs that are covered by lots of artists. Even a non-hit cover on a hit album brings lots of royalties. Plus, he has been on the “never ending tour” for more than twenty years now. That’s a lot of tickets.
