How many snowmobiles visit Yellowstone each year?
In 1998-99 76,000 tourists visited Yellowstone on about 63,000 snowmobiles. Between 1992 and 1999, an average of 66,619 snowmobiles entered the park each year. A temporary plan in effect for 2009 through 2011 limits the number of snowmobiles to 318 per day, led by commercial guides and using “best available technology” machines. Another 78 commercially guided, multi-passenger coaches per day are also allowed.
