How many snail farms are there in the UK?
To my knowledge, there are three snail farms in the UK. One is called South West Snails in Devon. They will shortly have their own web site and I will be linking to it from this site. In the meantime, I will happily pass on enquiries to them but I make it a policy not to give out e-mail addresses of my contacts without their express permission. South West Snails process and sell their own snails. I am not sure if they would be willing to process snails for others. The only other snail farm that I know a little about personally is one that is run by the daughter of the landlord at the King William pub in Scaftworth near Bawtry in South Yorkshire. I have bought snails from the pub – they are cagey about showing people around, but I understand their facility produces 1 tonne/year. Im afraid I dont have a telephone number for them, I live fairly close by so I visit in person. They will supply processed and live snails to enquirers.
