You asked how many you can plug into a socket, the answer is one. Then the socket is full. If you want to know how many you can operate from one socket that’s different. Each socket outlet can provide up to 13 Amps. so, for example if you had a set of lights that uses 1/2 an amp you could in theory have 26 sets of lights. There is more to it than that, but I don’t suppose you will get that close to 26 sets of lights (or 52 if each uses 1/4 of an amp) The thing you should do is only use outside use lights outside, some indoor lights look “ok” but they are not suitable for outside use, and will break down in rain, snow etc. If you do have outside lights, and you use an extension socket, get one of those purpose made grey boxes for the purpose, and don’t have any cables running down to the box, put a loop on them before they enter the box, this is so that when it rains water will follow the cable, but if there is a loop it will drip off, not run into the box.
