We current have dozens of web servers. All of our web servers have Pentium IV CPUs and 2GB of RAM and RAID1 mirroring, and run Windows 2003 Server. We also have over a dozen boxes that run FreeBSD and SpamAssassin 3.0.x. Those boxes handle the spam filtering duties so our Windows servers can focus on quickly serving web sites instead of grinding through spam. We also have several large dual Xeon Dell servers for dedicated tasks such as SQL Server and Veritas Backup Exec. Our main SQL Server has an attached Dell PowerVault RAID5 array, giving us over half a terrabyte of storage for SQL Server 2000 databases. Our main tape backup server has an attached Dell PowerVault 132T full of SDLT tapes for handling daily tape backups of all of our servers.
