There are 123 geothermal pools in Iceland. Every town has at least one. Where Finland and Sweden have a culture for sauna, Iceland has a culture for public hot tubs. Especially elderly people go there every day, sit there for hours and gossip. Usually every public geothermal pool has at least three hot tubs, the coldest being 38’C and hottest being 44’C. Only hardened veterans can go into the hottest ones, they are scorching hot!
