How many proposals were submitted and approved?
As of October 2010, 168 open call projects worth more than $60 million (GST exclusive) have been approved and letters of offer have been sent for these projects. Due to the recent extended caretaker period, 2010-11 business plan approvals and announcements were delayed. Over 600 proposals were submitted seeking over $275 million in Caring for our Country funding in the recent investment round, including approximately 50 Expressions of Interest for sustainable agriculture and fishing practices projects. There was a strong response to the call for investment proposals and the total value of submissions was far in excess of the available funding. Many high quality proposals were received. Projects that were approved addressed the targets very well and sought funding to achieve meaningful and targeted results.
