There are an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 hydrants located on private property located within the City of Ottawa. With the exception of Federal properties, all of these hydrants are subject to Ontario Regulation 388/97 of the Fire Code, which prescribes various inspections and works that must be carried out on an annual or more frequent basis.
