How many portable and mobile radios will be issued?
Each department has turned in a request for a desirable number of mobile and portable radios, but the project does have budget constraints. The Radio Oversight Committee established an equitable formula for distribution of field equipment. Law enforcement agencies receive one portable radio for each full time equivalent sworn officer as reported to CLEMIS. Fire agencies receive one portable radio for each command officer and one portable for every two firefighters in the agency. Mobile radios have been allocated on a one for one basis. Several departments are budgeting for or pursuing grants for additional equipment above the initial allocation.
