How many plastic PET bottles are thrown in the garbage every year?
The Container Recycling Institute has excellent data that can be seen here: http://www.container-recycling.org/ The answer, according to them is in the billions for Canada and the USA alone, and so few bottles are recycled that new ones are made from fossil fuels daily causing the unnecessary consumption of millions of barrels of crude oil.
