How many plastic bottles of water are consumed daily and what impact does it have on the environment?
Based on @jeffhoard answer, I did the math. Americans drink about 79,452,055 bottles of water per day on average, according to the stats proposed by National Geographic. The sheer mass of empty plastic bottles produced daily by Americans alone is causing somewhat of a panic. Landfills are growing to enormous sizes and the 29 billion bottles of water we drink every year are not helping the situation. The energy required to transport and manufacture these bottles also adds to the continued strain of a decreasing supply of fossil fuels.
