What up tascalc, While most major league baseball teams keep tract of how many pitches their pitchers throw (to make sure they don’t wear out their arms) it is not a statistic that is published or super-significant so considering that baseball has existed for over 100 years- and i’m not sure they’ve always kept that stat- no one really knows. In terms of why throwing over to bases is not counted as a pitch. A pitch happens when the pitcher throws the ball to home plate while a batter is present- that’s just what the definition of a pitch is. Hope that helps.
