How many permits are issued each year?
In 2009, 30 permits were issued under the Aboriginal Relics Act 1975. Of these, 24 were to ‘interfere’ and three to ‘conceal’, these included activities such as research and investigations, disturbance during the development stage and rehabilitation measures to conserve Aboriginal heritage sites. The other three were to ‘destroy’; these were all isolated artefact or artefact scatter sites.
