It should also be noted that the Nazis (and some of their allies) performed much of the mass murder included in the Holocaust “in the field”: the victims were slaughtered in or near their villages or neighborhoods. “Hoiocaust survivors” should include people who were at risk of these massacres but managed to get away, even though they were never in a “Holocaust concentration camp”.
