How many people really live in the area now, and from what ethnic groups?
Kosovo is primarily inhabited by Serbs (including Montenegrin Serbs) and Albanians. However there are also Roma (Gypsies), ethnic Turks, and unique ethnic groups that illustrate the complexity of Kosovo’s structure. Three such groups are the Aromani (speaking romance language derived from Latin), the Gorani (Moslem Serbs living in the Sara Mountain range), and the Janjevci (Catholic Croat inhabitants of Janjevo village resettled by the Croatian governement in areas of Croatia formerly inhabited by Serbs.
