How many people have allergies to pet fur and dander ?
My mom, dad, sister, and I all are. I used to be really bad off when I was a kid, but I refused to stop hugging and rubbing my nose in my cats’ and dog’s fur. Eyes all swollen half shut and red, running/sneezing nose, and coughing didn’t stop me from spending hours out in the barn letting the cats and dog rub all over me. I think eventually I built up an immunity; my allergies are greatly reduced now that I’m older and I even own a house cat that sleeps with me every night. My sister’s allergies, however, got a lot worse as she got older and she now has to stay on allergy meds and gets the allergy shot from the doctor, though, that effect is starting to not work very effectively anymore. I also met a girl working at a racetrack that was allergic to basically everything in a horse barn: hay, dirt, dust, grain, and horses.
