You are right there. It is absolutely meaningless when the word coming after is itself ‘relative’. So Post-modernism is wrong usage as ‘modern’ is relatively speaking. Only when it is definitive, prefixing post can be meaningful, like post-colonial or post-Communist (if I may call it that) after the fall of global communism. But post-perestroika or post- glasnost id really mongrelisation, should be desisted and a suitable replacement can easily be found. Even post-USSR is OK, now that USSR is past.
