How many people can I bring to my first baby scan?
It depends on the policy of the hospital and how many people you want, this usually differs from place to place (based on my experiences in the NHS anyway). If you’re wanting half a dozen then they’ll likely say no. The nurse doing the scan needs to be able to concentrate so everyone jostling around and talking can be off-putting. Sometimes the rooms are pretty small too so there just isn’t the space. If you’re wanting two, maybe even three people, then they’re normally fine with it. For my first few it was just me and my husband. I had to have extra scans because I had bleeding. My mum had never seen a late-pregnancy scan and kept asking me loads of questions and my youngest brother (he was 7 when I was pregnant) was really fascinated over wanting to know how they see the baby and what the baby looks like so at the next scan I took both of them and my husband with me into the room. Just ask at the reception desk when you arrive and they will be able to tell you whether or not it’s oka
