FAIRBANKS — North Pole Mayor Doug Isaacson said Wednesday he’ll run for re-election, while a city councilwoman also announced a mayoral bid. Challenging Isaacson are Councilwoman Victoria Thompson and former Councilman Mike Welch, who declared his candidacy last month. Jeff Jacobson, the councilman-turned-mayor-turned-councilman, declined to comment on whether he wants his old job back. That brings the slate of candidates seeking the highest office in the city of 2,099 people to three. The municipal election is Oct. 6. Isaacson, 51, said he wants a second term to see some projects through. “I want to make sure that what has been started has a chance to really grow and become part of the fabric of North Pole,” he said.
