We can only make an educated guess. Since 1991, Towson has had a mandatory immunization policy that requires all degree-seeking students and any non-degree students taking 6 or more credits to have proof of immunity to Mumps (as well as Measles, Rubella, Diphtheria and Tetanus). That means proving they have had 2 doses of MMR or a positive antibody titer to Mumps or a history of the disease diagnosed by a physician. Approximately 94% of our 18,000 students have met the immunization requirements (2 doses of MMR or proof of disease). The other 6% are exempt from the immunization requirement (non-degree students taking less than 6 credits or students exempted for medical or bona fide religious reasons). We might still expect about 10% of those students who have met the requirements plus some percentage of the exempted students to be susceptible, perhaps as many as 3700 students.
