How many parsecs are typical interstellar distances (e.g. 1, 10, 100, 1000)?
Interstellar distances are the typical distances between stars. The nearest star to Sol is Proxima Centauri, at 4.23 light-years (1.3 parsecs). Stellar separations vary, but 1 to 10 parsecs is the most usual range within a galactic arm. Between arms the separation can be a lot greater, perhaps 10 to 100 parsecs.
