How many others in the building material industry are involved in similar cases?
A winter 2005 survey of NLBMDA members found that 27 percent – or more than 1 in 4 – have been named in at least one product liability lawsuit within the past 5 years, with two thirds of those involved in more than one. Of those named in lawsuits, more than 67 percent settled out of court, and only 24 percent were dismissed. These lawsuits have involved products ranging from floor coverings, treated lumber and roofing to windows, trusses, nails, saws and numerous other products. Every product that leaves your yard is a potential lawsuit down the road!
